Ian August was born in Winnipeg in 1977. He studied Fine Arts at the University of Manitoba where, along with some fellow students he founded the 26 group. Ian works in a variety of media including: painting portraits in oil, drawing, publishing Xerox magazines, and installing street art. For the last few years Ian has also been working on a body of paintings and drawings on book covers. The bookcovers are usually from hardcover books and always removed from the books prior to being worked on.
