Melanie Rocan is a bilingual Franco-Manitoban and has graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honors Degree, thesis in painting. She has been part of an exchange program with the Glasgow School of Art, in Scotland and is currently finishing her Masters at Concordia University. In 2005, Melanie had an exhibition entitled Familiar Places, at the Paul Petro Contemporary Art Gallery, in Toronto. In 2003 she was part of the Young Winnipeg Artists group exhibition at Plug-In Institute of Contemporary Art and has shown work in the Too-Sicks collective show 'A La Planche', at the Annex Gallery in Winnipeg. In 2001-2002 she was the artist-in-residence for the Franco-Manitoban Cultural Center, in Saint-Boniface, and in the beginning of her thesis year she had a solo show entitled Little Dream at the Center, which completed her residency. In 2006 she will be part of a group exhibition at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, entitled Supernova, a Too-Sicks exhibition at gallery 1.1.1., and a other gallery show at the University of Dundee, in Scotland.
